I know everyone comes with baggage but moving in together is a huge test of digging through through it!
When I moved back to Louisiana (2010) everything was put into a storage unit with great intentions of going through it and cleaning out. Clearly that didn't happen...
Without any other options we decided to relocate all of it to the garage of our new home and go through it one box at a time. So we loaded everything up and emptied out the storage unit, no turning back now.
The next few months turned out to have many moments that made me know "he's the one, he's perfect for me." The more we cleaned out and combined our lives (yes he had his fair share of baggage too), the stronger our relationship got. It wasn't just the two of us getting used to the new living situation, Jackson (chocolate lab fur baby) didn't want to be left out of anything.
As we unpacked and attempted to settle into our new house we realized it was us against the house. The very first weekend Jackson decided he didn't like the blinds and took them down. The husband didn't find it nearly as funny as I did.
Before the end of the first month in our house the score had gotten to be house:4 versus us:0. Jojo had stepped through the ceiling and I had managed to cave in the closet shelves. Whoops. On the bright side, we got skilled pretty quickly being handy!
What I learned:
Letting go can be hard but with the right person holding your hand it's very liberating.
XOXO
