A little background

A little background on our Lagniappe Life!

Amanda:
I was born and raised in south east Louisiana. I went out of state to receive a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. After I realized I was NOT cut out for a cold winter, I moved back to Louisiana and started working towards a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering at LSU. I eventually started working close by at John Deere and I'm now working in Kenner (just outside of New Orleans). I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about my job and the place I work! They are going to have a hard time getting rid of me!

Jojo:
He was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He went to college in Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science in Weld and Fabrication Engineering. During college he had worked as an intern for John Deere. After graduation he accepted their offer for an Engineering position at their factory in south Louisiana. We are all certain Jojo was born in the wrong place! He is a southern boy and fits in perfectly down here!

HOW WE MET
On March 21, 2015 we each went to the second birthday party for Lavinnia, the daughter of a John Deere co-worker (my old job / Jojo's new job). Unknowingly, we were both invited as a setup by her parents.

This photo of Lavinnia and Marguerite (her mom) was taken the day we met.

In an effort to be completely transparent, Jojo asked me on numerous dates and I kept saying no. It took some coaxing by Chad and Marguerite to get me to finally agree to one date. They did good... the rest is history!

HOW WE GOT ENGAGED
Jojo wanted the proposal to be a surprise. We had already decided to do a ToughMudder. Since both our families were coming to cheer us on, he knew it was the perfect opportunity to catch me off guard. He was right, I was covered in mud and completely surprised!

Tough Mudder Proposal Love

A year after we met we found ourselves at the same place celebrating the same little girl's birthday under very different circumstances. We were engaged and planning our wedding celebration with the family that brought us together.

Photos above and below were taken on out 1st anniversary at Lavinnia's birthday party.

We are beyond grateful to Lavinnia's parents, Chad and Marguerite. If it wasn't for them our life would be completely different. We are truly indebted to them and the miracle that is their family!

What I learned:
1) keep in touch with excellent co-workers and people from your past
2) sometimes other people know what you need better than you know yourself, just pick the right people to trust
3) there's some people that come into your life and never leave, no matter how hard you try to get rid of them
4) things don't always turn out the way you planned, sometimes they turn out better

XOXO
A & J
